Merry Christmas
Here is something simple you can make with your CaBezel Molds. Santa and Frosty are easy to create. Use them as tree ornaments or wear them as brooches. For more information on how to make these Christmas characters go to wwwshadesofclay.com

I just love receiving your photos!
Bottled water is killing our planet.click on the link to see the video
The big companies WON'T stop producing it if we keep buying it!

I have been using/reusing a more permanet type water bottle for a very long time now. I refill it using water from my Brita pitcher. I used to still buy the odd case of water just to have on hand to offer to my guests, but after seeing this simple video I won't be doing that anymore either. If my filtered tap water isn't good enough...too bad!!

Creativfestival Oct 2008
Congratulations to Marg Scott of Shades of Clay. (she's the one on the far right for those of you that don't already know).
It was Marg's first year participating in the Creativfestival and she did an amazing job. Her booth looked fantastic and it captured the attention of many passers by, even those that had no previous experience with polymer clay showed interest. I think we may have created some new polymer clay addicts!
Many of the members of
The Southern Ontario Polymer Clay Guild came out to support Marg and give her a hand.
Lydia was one of our "greeters"
Bev and I had a great time helping out. I did my first public demo of the CaBezels and I know I made a few converts to polymer clay. It's always great to see people get so excited about something!
There were many demos going on in the booth. Donna Kato drew in a crowd.

Clean your pasta machine!!!!
Here is a great lesson on what NOT to do!
I learned this the hard way while I was at the Dustin workshop.
I noticed that my translucent clay kept getting stuck in my PM and I needed to run it thru on the thinnest setting for the technique that we were learning! What a mess.
I didn't even imagine that was PM was soooo full of clay bits! After all this was my spare machine, the one that I ONLY used when I travelled to classes and the SOPCG meetings! Who would have thought.
After taking my PM machine apart i noticed that I had BENT parts because of the huge amounts of clay that were jammed inside!
All was not lost. I recovered more than a package and a half of clay!
I DIDN'T put the fenders back on my machine so now I will be able to see any clay that might get stuck.

Art Dolls
I've been very busy working on my Etsy shop. Thank goodness for my 10 year olds help with "browsing" for my pics on my PC and uploading them. I'll admit that I had been sitting in front of my PC just seething with frustration trying to upload the un-uploadables! What is it about the language of computers that speaks so easily to the younger generation? I keep threatening to send him to summer school to learn more about computers!!!! Unfortunately he sees right through my self-serving agenda! http://theartofmyclay.etsy.com
While I was taking a little break today I stumbled upon this little gem of a blog.
http://www.myartself.com/ You really should take a look, especially if you are interested in art dolls. These people have a challenge to make 100 art dolls and they will be posting about each and every one of them. Want to know the biggest catch??? They arn't supposed to buy any new supplies ! I'm almost tempted to join. I think it would be absolutely wonderful to dig into my stash of fabrics and ribbons and try to make even a dent in the stash!

It's been awhile....
Wow time sure does fly! I can't believe that it's been so long since my last post. I have been very busy though, I'm getting a lot of clay-time in and that always makes me happy.
This past Sunday was our regular monthly meeting for the clay Guild that I belong to. SOPCG or the Southern Ontario Polymer Clay Guild. This guild is a wonderful group of (mainly) woman that get together to share ideas and techniques. You just can't beat getting together with like-minded people.
This time we worked on caning. Judy Belcher's technique to be exact. Many of us have purchased her wonderful books or her DVD and been very inspired. One of our most avid caners in the group, Sandy led us on our journey of tessellated canes.
